A Clinical Observation of Patients with Humeral Lateral Epicondylitis(Tennis Elbow)

Abstract
The patient complains of severe pain in the elbow. Frequently radiation to wrist or shoulder. Dorsiflexion of the wrist may be painful. This clinical picture of pain is usually accompanied by a history of overuse of the extensors and supinators
of
the
wrist in sports such as tennis and golf, and in occupations requiring similar motions.
This study was clinically carried out on the 38 patients with tennis elbow who came to the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion. Oriental Medicine Hospital Kyung San University from August 1th, 1991 to July 31th, 1992.
1. The peak incidence of age group was 50 to 59(42.1%). In the series of 38 patients, 31.6% were male and 68.4% were female, the ratio between male and female was 1:2.
2. The ratio of the left tennis elbow to the right was 1:2.
3. The claassification of history is divided into 4 types, most acute stage 15.8%, acute stage: 26.3%, subacute stage: 42.1%, chronic stage: 15.8%
4. In the pain Grade at first diagnosis, 42.2% was Grade 3, 36.8% was Grade 2. In the pain Grade at final diagnosis, 31.6% was Grade 1.42% was Grade 0.
5. The most frequently times of treatment was 3 to 5 group (42.1%), and 31.6% was 6 to 10 group.
6. The effects of therapy were seemed to be excellent in 15.8%, good in 52.8%, fair in 21.0% and the 89.4% of patients with the therapy of this method showed more than fair effect.
